Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher believes Nottingham Forest will be a Premier League title contender if they beat Liverpool next.
Forest were in impressive form as they thrashed Wolves 3-0 in the Premier League on Monday, making it six consecutive league wins and moving level on points with second-placed Arsenal and just six points behind leaders Liverpool.
Nuno Espirito Santo’s “Foresters” have a chance to close the gap with Liverpool in the next league game when they return to play at the City Ground against the “Reds”, who won 1-0 in the first match at Anfield.
“If they beat Liverpool they will definitely be in the title race and they are the only team to beat Liverpool this season.”
“Also, if the Champions League places are in the top five, they have a good chance,” Carragher said.
“As a Premier League, we need Nottingham Forest to make the top five if that’s going to be Champions League football.
“It’s the same for Aston Villa, who a few years แทงบอล UFABET ราคาดีที่สุด ไม่มีขั้นต่ำ ago had only been back in the Premier League for a few seasons or so. Forest are the same. It gives hope to so many clubs who are struggling.
“If they can do that, it sends a message to the whole Premier League and supporters that there’s hope there when sometimes that’s all you’ve got.”
The match between Forest and Liverpool is scheduled for Tuesday, January 14, while both teams are in the FA Cup this weekend, with Forest taking on Luton Town and Liverpool facing Accrington.
